The properties of fruits and vegetables are inherently wise, ideally suited to reveal the best our genetic blueprint has to offer. Our goal at INNATE Response™ has always been to retain the unique properties of fruits and vegetables in our products and build upon their wisdom by delivering essential vitamins and minerals through them.  We believe this will allow your patients to attain real health and wellness by ensuring the delivery of needed nutrients with the complex factors found in food. That said, one of our core beliefs is that a nutrient-rich, whole food diet that includes five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables is essential for health. Ensuring adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables is especially important for women who are looking to conceive, pregnant women, or those who are nursing. Unfortunately, the nutrient content of produce spanning 50 years shows median declines of up to 40% for both vitamins and minerals. This steady nutrient reduction means most diets provide insufficient levels of essential nutrients necessary for achieving and maintaining optimal health for both mother and child.  Further, most individuals only consume approximately two-and-a-half servings of fruits and vegetables with a lower nutritive value per day and are in need of a solution that bridges that gap.

With this premise in mind, it makes perfect sense to supplement deficiencies in the diet with a prenatal multivitamin that delivers key nutrients in fresh, whole foods if a woman is or plans on becoming pregnant. Providing nutrients in food is what INNATE Response™ does with its one-of-a-kind FoodState Nutrient™ delivery system. FoodState Nutrients™ deliver essential vitamins and minerals and numerous other vital constituents, commonly referred to as the “unknown factors” in a convenient tablet. These unknown factors include the bioactive peptides, enzymes, food compounds, and micro- and macronutrients that naturally comprise whole food.

In addition to the naturally occurring cofactors, or unknown factors, vitamins and minerals are delivered in and with fresh food in the INNATE Prenatal multivitamin. For example, vitamin E is delivered in brown rice and contains a broad range of tocopherols and tocotrienols. Vitamin C is provided with the synergistic compound actives of oranges and carries all of the unknown factors unique to the fruit. Folate is delivered in broccoli; vitamin A in carrots; iron in S. Cerevisiae; and organic beet root supplies the natural sources of the vitamins.  Additionally, the natural mix of carotenoids found in carrots adds a unique depth to the vitamin A blend.  Your patient will find all of these nutrients in the Baby & Me multivitamin from INNATE Response™.

So what exactly is a FoodState Nutrient™?  The simplest answer is that they are whole foods that are milled and concentrated or whole foods enriched with vitamins or minerals.  To make them, we start with fresh, local foods, such as carrots, broccoli, blueberries, cranberries, beets, cabbage and organic brown rice, which arrive from our farm-fresh partners daily. Our Slo-Food Process™ was created with the intention of preserving the complexity and nutritional value of our nutrients, because producing the finest raw materials would have little benefit if the process for drying them denatured the nutrients. So, our patented drying technology, or “refractance window drying,” ensures low temperatures and a “self-limiting” drying process, which is crucial to preserve optimal potency and unadulterated nutrient complexity.

The result of this process is a nutrient-rich complex, with enhanced digestibility and nutritional value, which is exactly what pregnant or nursing mother’s need most to support optimal health during a time that requires an extra nutrient supply. INNATE Response™ has always focused on creating nutrient rich supplements with the most relevant clinical doses delivered in food, and we know that pregnant and nursing mother’s need this support the most. We also know that without the complexity of food being present in a multivitamin, the long-term benefit may be limited. That said, there is no supplement replacement for obtaining all the complex nutrients in food without consuming an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables. Therefore, we continue to advocate the use of our product along with a healthy diet.

Today, it is hard to remain healthy given the dietary challenges we face, and harder still if your patient is a pregnant or nursing mother. INNATE’s prenatal formula, Baby & Me™, includes nutrients delivered in food, which may be of particular benefit because it contains the widest range of nutrients possible to fill gaps in the modern diet. Combine this with the measured amount of nutrients supplied in the formula, and the result is a prenatal multivitamin designed to ensure the adequate intake of essential vitamins and minerals for two.
